From the village center of Grossarl, you cycle along the cycle path towards St. Johann. After the butcher (Metzger), the tour goes upwards.
You pass several houses and farms and you reach the Sonneggbrücke, which is a very popular starting point for many hikes. You cycle along the forestry road in direction to Maurachalm.
The first mountain hut is the Muggenfeldalm (closed), the second the Maurachalm. At the Maurachalm you will be pampered with delicacies from their own production.
The Maurachalm is the most northern mountain hut in Grossarltal and it is particularly known for the exquisite schnapps (Vogelbeer or Holler). Sometimes the people up there sing and play music.
You return along the same route, then turn off towards Unterwandalm. Here, too, music is often played and there is a playground with pets. Of course, you are also spoiled with delicacies from their own production on the Unterwandalm.
You continue to Karseggalm. This is the oldest hut in Grossarltal with its 400 years. Here is a specialty, the Knetkäse - because you need an open fireplace for smoking it.
After your break, you cycle on the forestry road downwards. At the crossing, you can make a detour to the Grosswildalm - if you are still fit enough.
