Sustainable travel

DAS EDELWEISS: Safe in the mountains. Rooted in nature.

Our roots lie in the heart of the impressive landscape of the Grossarl Valley. Growing up between mountains and forests, we feel deeply connected to nature - and it is precisely this connection that is reflected in our architecture, among many other things. We have a responsibility to preserve nature and therefore rely on sustainable concepts: Natural materials such as wood, glass and stone, green roofs as valuable living spaces and long-lasting construction methods in collaboration with regional partners. This results in architecture that not only blends harmoniously into its surroundings, but also makes a positive contribution.

Sustainable travel means not only enjoying nature, but also understanding and protecting it. That's why we offer guided hikes for our guests, where we show how valuable and worthy of protection our environment is. Together with the Grossarltal tourism association, we are committed to further developing the region as a sustainable vacation destination - for unforgettable nature experiences that will be preserved for future generations.

For us, sustainability does not end with the architecture - it is also reflected in our cuisine. We rely on regional and seasonal ingredients from local partners, offer selected organic-certified food and drinks and serve fresh mountain water from the Grossarltal springs. Our in-house butcher's shop “Grossarler Genuss” produces high-quality products that combine tradition and quality. Our guests not only enjoy the best taste, but also the certainty of eating sustainably and consciously.

“Sustainability is a matter close to our hearts: out of appreciation for nature and responsibility for future generations. We built one of the first hydropower plants in Grossarltal back in the 1980s.”

Karin Hettegger, host

Sustainability is more than just a trend for us - it is a responsibility. That's why we rely on environmentally friendly technologies to minimize our energy consumption. Our hotel is heated with wood chips, while heat recovery and intelligent heating and cooling systems ensure maximum efficiency. A modern water treatment system supplies our pools and water slide park in a resource-saving way, and thanks to LED lighting, motion detectors and a photovoltaic system on the roof, we use energy consciously. We also make our guests aware of the importance of a sustainable stay - whether through conscious towel consumption or by experiencing an environmentally friendly vacation world.

We also rely on environmentally friendly solutions when it comes to mobility. Charging stations for electric cars are available in the underground car park and our guests have the opportunity to test electric cars themselves thanks to our exclusive partnership with Mercedes Benz Austria. If you want to actively explore the surrounding area, the neighboring bike rental is the perfect alternative. We also offer an in-house shuttle service for a comfortable and environmentally friendly journey. This makes sustainable travel not only easy, but also convenient.
