The Hettegger Family
A Third Generation Host Family
Three generations of the Hettegger family have left their mark on the Hotel Edelweiss Grossarl. Since the hotel opened in 1979 – at that time just a modest 14-room inn – the relationship and familiar connection with guests has always been at the fore.
A good sense of family has made the Hotel Edelweiss into the special holiday destination that it is today. Guests at Edelweiss are more than just that – during their stay they are also part of the Edelweiss family.
Your Hosts: the Hettegger Family
Upon arrival you will be greeted at reception by sister-in-law Elke and daughter-in-law Karin with a friendly smile and a hearty welcome.
Several times per week, you can accompany grandfather Peter Hettegger on one of his hikes through the Grossarl Valley. Grandmother Anna takes you on a journey through time: at the historic Koesslerhaeusl Museum she bakes traditional doughnuts with guests. And the boss’ son, Peter, sometimes takes over as chauffeur on outings with our little guests, making sure that children and childcare professionals enjoy the most beautiful and fun places in the Grossarl Valley.
The Beginning of Hotel Edelweiss
Since he can remember, today’s hotel head Peter Hettegger always wanted to be a hotel host. He finally fulfilled his desire in 1979 with the opening of the Hotel Edelweiss. Fourteen rooms were available to guests at that time. Over the years, the hotel has been repeatedly renovated and the current Hotel Edelweiss was built from the foundation of that small inn. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the family’s love of hospitality and their commitment to a familiar atmosphere – something that can be felt throughout the hotel.
