Salzburgerland – a small paradise for nature lovers
A pearl right in the heart of Austria
Salzburgerland is a combination
of mountains and lakes, rivers and forests, folkloric villages and
picturesque cities. The mountain range of the Central Alps runs through
the south, including the impressive 3000er, the Hohen Tauern
mountain. In the east and north, the borders stretch across the
Dachstein mountain and the Berchtesgadner Alps. Over thousands of
years, nature slowly turned Salzburger Land into
its own masterpiece: Mountains are grouped together in every imaginable
shape and alternate with forests and meadows. The fascinating mountain
world in Salzburgerland is waiting to be discovered by you.
The unforgettable panoramic view from the Hohen Tauern
mountain up to the Leoganger stone mountains – everything is
simply heavenly. There, where ski and snowboard fans feel at home
during the winter months, there are also 450 km of marked hiking trails
that attract hikers just as much as high alpine mountain freaks. About
30 mountain hut restaurant establishments ensure that you won’t
go hungry. They will serve you incredible dishes and regional
specialties so you can tank up on energy.
If you look more closely, you will see that the Federal state Salzburg is divided into 5 different regions:
Pongau, Pinzgau, Lungau, Tennengau and Flachgau.
The Großarl Valley lies in the idyllic region of Pongau.
