The National Park Hohe Tauern counts amoung one of the most impressive mountainous regions in the world.  It is the largest nature preserve in the Alps and the second-largest national park in Europe. Kärnten, Salzburg and Tyrol share this 1800 m2 nature preserve, in which lie countless mountain peaks of over 3000 meters high.

The most famous peak is the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria.
